The short version
The biggest difference is how each tool gets the comments:
- Comment Picker asks you to log in with Instagram or Facebook and reads comments through the official Meta API. It works with Business and Creator accounts only, in any browser.
- Gifty doesn't connect to your account at all. You paste the link to a public post or reel into the iPhone app, and it picks winners from up to 1,000 participants (unique accounts).
If you want a free web tool for a small giveaway, many filters or unlimited comments, Comment Picker is a strong choice. If you'd rather not log in, or your account isn't a Business or Creator account, Gifty may suit you better.

- Maximum comments or participants
- Comment Picker: 100 comments free, unlimited comments and posts with Premium. Gifty: up to 1,000 participants (unique accounts) per draw, from one post or reel.
- Alternates
- Comment Picker: 1 winner free, up to 10 winners at once with Premium, plus a “Pick new winner” button and an option to remove past winners from the entries. Gifty: any number of winners and alternates, picked in the same draw.
- Mention rule and entries
- Comment Picker: filters for duplicate users, minimum @mentions, same mentions, words, hashtags, likes, dates, maximum entries per user and excluded users. Its plans table lists the @mention, text, like and date filters under Premium. Gifty: a minimum @mentions rule, and each account always counts once.
- Proof and certificate
- Comment Picker: a public results page (not saved by default for free users), an image certificate, a 9:16 video announcement and animations such as Wheel of Names. Gifty: a countdown, a screen recording saved to Photos and a screenshot of the results. No certificate or public results page.
- Languages
- Comment Picker: English and Dutch. Gifty: the app is in English, Portuguese (Brazil), Turkish, German and French; this website is also in Spanish.
When Comment Picker is the better choice
- You work on a computer or Android. Comment Picker runs in any browser. Gifty needs an iPhone.
- Your giveaway is small. Up to 100 comments and one winner are free.
- You prefer the official API. Comment Picker reads comments through Meta's API after you log in and grant permissions.
- Your post is big, or you have several posts. Premium removes the comment limit and adds multi-post draws. Gifty includes up to 1,000 participants from one post.
- You need detailed filters or branding. Word, hashtag, like and date filters, bonus entries, your logo and colours, a results page and an image or video certificate.
When Gifty may suit you
- You don't want to log in or grant permissions. Gifty never connects to your Instagram account, so there's no Business or Creator account step.
- You run the giveaway from your iPhone and want winners, alternates, countdown and recording in one app.
- You'd rather pay per draw than keep a monthly subscription. Credits don't renew.
- You want alternates from the same draw instead of re-drawing.

How to run the same giveaway in Gifty
You need an iPhone with iOS 15 or later and a post or reel on a public account.

1. Copy the post link
In Instagram, open the giveaway post or reel, tap the share button and copy the link.

2. Paste it into Gifty
No login, no permissions and no Facebook Page needed.

3. Set your rules
Choose the number of winners and alternates and the minimum @mentions. Duplicate accounts are always removed.

4. Add a countdown and recording
Pick the countdown length and turn on screen recording if you want a video for Stories. It's saved to Photos.

5. Start the draw
It uses one credit. Gifty collects up to 1,000 participants and picks winners on your phone with Apple's secure random number generator.

6. Check and announce
Check follows or likes on each winner yourself, move to the next alternate if needed, and share the video or screenshot.

Do I need a Business or Creator account to use Gifty?
No account connection is needed. The giveaway post just has to be on a public account. Private accounts, stories and highlights aren't supported.
Is Gifty free like Comment Picker's free plan?
