What Gifty is
Gifty has two parts:
- The iPhone app. You paste the link to a public Instagram post or reel, set your rules, and the app picks random winners and alternates from the comments. No Instagram login or password is needed. It runs on iOS 15 or later. There's no Android app.
- Free browser tools. A random name picker, a wheel spinner, a random number picker, a Secret Santa generator and a giveaway rules generator. They're free, need no sign-up and work on any phone or computer. They use lists you type or paste in, and they don't load Instagram comments.
Gifty is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Instagram or Meta.

Anyone who runs a giveaway on Instagram and wants the winner picked at random, in a way followers can watch.

How a draw works
Copy the link to your giveaway post or reel in Instagram and paste it into Gifty. Choose how many winners and alternates you need, the minimum number of @mentions a comment must contain, how many seconds the countdown runs and whether to record the screen. When you start the draw, Gifty loads the public comments from up to 1,000 different accounts, counts each account once, leaves out comments with too few @mentions, and picks the winners and alternates on your phone with Apple's secure system random number generator. They appear with their username and profile photo, and you can share a screenshot of the list or the recorded video. Each draw uses one giveaway credit. Gifty doesn't check follows or likes, so check those on each winner yourself.
