Dice roller: roll virtual dice online

Roll a die, or up to 10 virtual dice at once, from a d4 to a d100, or type notation like 2d6+3. Hold dice between rolls, see the total and every past roll. Free, no sign-up, and every roll comes from your browser's secure random generator.

    Mode

    Type of die

For example 2d6+3 or 1d20+5. Press Enter to roll.

Every roll is decided by your browser's secure random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) before the dice move. The animation only shows that result, and nothing is sent to our servers.

    How to roll dice online

    1. 1. Choose your dice

Pick how many dice to roll, from 1 to 10, and the type: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d100. Or type notation such as 1d20+5 or 2d6+3.

    2. 2. Roll

Tap Roll. The dice tumble across the tray and the total appears under them, with any modifier already added.

    3. 3. Hold and re-roll

Tap a die to hold it, then roll again. Held dice stay put while the others are re-rolled, the way you play Yahtzee.

    4. 4. Check the history

Every roll is listed with its dice and total, so nobody has to remember what came up three turns ago.

    What this dice roller does

1 to 10 dice in one roll
Roll two dice for Monopoly, five for Yahtzee or a handful of d6 for a damage roll, all at once.
Every common die, d4 to d100
d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100 (percentile), so one page covers board games and tabletop RPGs.
    Dice notation
Type 2d6+3 and it rolls two six-sided dice and adds 3. Handy for D&D attacks and damage.
    Hold dice
Keep the dice you like and re-roll the rest, for Yahtzee and other games played in up to three rolls.
    Sums and doubles
The total is added up for you, and doubles are highlighted, which matters in backgammon and Monopoly.
    Stats and history
See how often each number has come up this session, next to a list of every roll.

Why use this instead of Google's dice roller?

Google's dice roller is quick when you just need a number. This one is built for when the game needs more than a single roll:

    • Hold and re-roll for Yahtzee-style turns.
    • A history of every roll and stats for the session, so disputes are easy to settle.
    • Doubles highlighted for backgammon and Monopoly.
    • Notation like 1d20+5 for tabletop RPGs.
    • Gift-dice mode, where each face triggers a rule you write, for the white elephant dice game.

It's also free of ads, and nothing you roll is sent to our servers.

    White elephant dice game mode

The white elephant dice game, also called the Christmas dice game or gift exchange dice game, swaps the turn order for a die: what you roll decides whether you open, steal or pass a gift. Gift-dice mode runs it on one phone in the middle of the table.

    • A rule for every face. Start from a ready table, for example 1 = open a gift, 2 = steal, 3 = swap left, 4 = swap right, 5 = pass, 6 = roll again, then edit any face to match your house rules.
    • A players list, so the screen shows whose roll it is.
    • A round timer for the stealing phase. Anything from 5 to 20 minutes works, depending on the size of the group.
    • A rules link you can send to the group chat, so everyone plays with the same table.

For the full two-round rules and a printable version, see our white elephant and Christmas dice game rules.

    Is this dice roller fair?

Every roll is decided by your browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) before the dice start moving. The animation only shows a result that's already fixed. On a d6, each face has exactly a 1 in 6 chance, every time, with no memory of the last roll. Real dice can be slightly uneven; these can't.

Some results are more common by nature, not by design. With two dice, 7 is the most likely total (6 of the 36 combinations), 2 and 12 the rarest (1 each), and doubles come up 1 time in 6.

What a virtual die can't prove is that nobody rolled again. If you play over a video call, roll with your screen shared so everyone sees the same result.

When an online die comes in handy

    Board games with missing dice
Lost the dice from Monopoly or Ludo? Roll two d6 on your phone and keep playing.
    Yahtzee night
Five dice, holds and three rolls per turn, with the history to check scores.
    D&D and tabletop RPGs
Roll a d20 to hit, then 2d6+3 for damage, without digging through a dice bag.
    Classroom probability
Roll 100 times and watch the stats: students see why 7 beats 12 with two dice.
    Holiday gift exchange
Gift-dice mode turns any office party or family Christmas into the dice game, with the rules on screen.

Can I use it as a D&D dice roller?

Yes. Pick a d20 to roll to hit, or type notation such as 1d20+5 or 2d6+3 and the modifier is added to the total. d4, d8, d10, d12 and d100 are there too.

How do I roll 2 dice at once?

Set the number of dice to 2 and tap Roll. You can roll up to 10 dice at once, and the total is added up for you.

Can I play Yahtzee with this dice roller?

Yes. Roll five d6, tap the dice you want to keep and roll again. Held dice don't move. You keep score on your own sheet.

Does it have a d100 (percentile) roller?

Yes. Choose d100 to get a number from 1 to 100 in one roll.

How does the white elephant dice game work?

Does the dice roller work on my phone?

Yes. It works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer. There's no app to install.
