How to pick a random number

  1. 1. Set the range

Enter the lowest number in From and the highest in To.

  2. 2. Choose how many

Set How many numbers. No repeats is on by default, so each number comes up only once, like raffle tickets. Turn it off for things like dice rolls.

  3. 3. Pick

Tap Pick numbers. Turn on Sort results if you want them listed in order.

  4. 4. Copy or pick again

Copy results to paste them into a message or spreadsheet, or pick again with the same settings.

How random is this number generator?

Each number comes from your browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues). Browsers don't guarantee that Math.random(), the basic JavaScript generator, is fit for security uses. The crypto generator is the one they provide for that, and every number in your range has the same chance.

With No repeats on, each number can come up only once per pick, so asking for more numbers than the range holds shows an error instead of a repeat. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers. Drawing raffle numbers in public? Record your screen while you pick.

Random number picker FAQ

How do I pick a random number between 1 and 100?

The picker opens set to 1 to 100. Leave How many numbers at 1 and tap Pick numbers. For any other range, change From and To first.

Can I generate several numbers without repeats?

Yes. Set How many numbers and keep No repeats on (it's on by default). Every number in the result will be different.

Why do I get an error when I ask for lots of numbers?

With No repeats on, you can't pick more numbers than the range contains. A range of 1 to 10 holds 10 numbers, so asking for 12 shows an error. Widen the range or turn off No repeats.

How do I roll dice with this?

Set From to 1 and To to 6. For two dice, set How many numbers to 2 and turn off No repeats, because dice can land on the same number.

Can I sort the numbers?

Yes. Turn on Sort results to list them in order, which makes checking raffle tickets easier.

Is this random number generator free?

Yes. It's free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser.

Can I use it to pick a giveaway winner?

Yes, if your entries are numbered, like raffle tickets or rows in a spreadsheet. For Instagram comments, the Gifty app picks straight from your post or reel and counts each account once.
